Begonia Hula Collection
Pack of 5

SAVE OVER 50% AND ENJOY SEASON LONG FLOWERS WITH MINIMAL MAINTENANCE!

Our Begonia Hula Collection (Begonia x hybrida), has one each of the following 5 varieties (separately labelled):

Hula Red White Bicolour – A striking mix of bold red and crisp white blooms cascade over bright green foliage for maximum visual impact.

Hula Blush – Features soft blush-pink to white blooms atop bright green foliage.

Hula White – Radiating elegance with pure white blooms that contrast beautifully against the clear green foliage.

Hula Pink – Features delicately colored soft pink blooms complemented by red-tipped green foliage.

Hula Red– Produces masses of vibrant red blooms held above deep green foliage with a subtle red tinge.

Bred for nonstop seasonal color, the Hula series of Begonias delivers a continuous display of vibrant blooms from spring through the warmer months. These vigorous, fast-spreading trailing Begonias feature a naturally compact, mounding habit and uniform growth, making them ideal for hanging baskets, mixed containers, or as flowering groundcover in garden beds.

With excellent branching and a blanket of long-lasting color, Hula Begonias provide high-impact performance with minimal maintenance—perfect for creating lush, low-effort landscapes and stunning container displays.

Begonias are a versatile and charming plant, making them perfect for a variety of garden settings. Their ability to add flair to both garden beds and pots allows them to be used creatively in landscaping, and the smaller upright varieties are particularly stunning when paired with decorative pots, enhancing the overall aesthetic.

These perennials are relatively easy to grow, making them great for beginner gardeners. A brightly lit position with morning sun or filtered indoor light works best, and they thrive in well-drained soil. Regular fertilising will encourage abundant blooms, ensuring a long-lasting floral display.

While pruning isn’t typically necessary, trimming can help maintain a tidy appearance, especially if you’re looking to keep the plant compact. It’s also important to protect Begonias from cold and frost, as they are sensitive to low temperatures. With proper care, these plants will continue to brighten your garden or home with their vibrant flowers for many months of the year.

Begonias thrive in partial to full shade and prefers well-drained, fertile soil or premium potting mix. Blooming prolifically from Spring through to Autumn they offer a long season of vibrant colour with minimal upkeep. Ideal for brightening shaded corners or adding warmth to mixed container displays, this range is well-suited to a wide range of garden styles.

Supplied as 5x 68mm potted plants.

Orders containing products from two different seasons (eg Rose or spring bulb pre-orders) that require separate deliveries will incur two delivery charges at the relevant rates (unless a free freight offer applies). A $5.00 Quarantine Inspection Surcharge applies in addition to the Delivery Charge for orders delivered to Tasmania, Northern Territory and Western Australia due to the increased complexity of quarantine requirements.

As quarantine inspections apply to each delivery, 2 quarantine charges will apply where orders contain products from different seasons.   *Please note that if you order large items (eg Patio, Standard or Weeping Roses, Fruit Trees) you must specify a street address for the delivery address. StarTrack Express generally do not deliver to PO Boxes or RSD addresses so your order will be held until a suitable address is obtained. In rural areas, StarTrack may deliver to physical addresses such as general stores that act as Australia Post agencies but we suggest you check with them first. Where ”Free Delivery” vouchers apply to an order, details of the voucher should be entered in the “Your message to us” field. Orders (except Pre-orders) are normally despatched within 7-14 working days from the time of ordering during busy periods. Delivery times may be extended during peak periods (typically following the release of the latest catalogue), extended public holidays, if extreme weather conditions are not suitable for live plant transport or as detailed in the product description.
Individual items may be back-ordered to avoid delaying the delivery of other items. Please allow additional delivery time for orders to Tasmania, Northern Territory and Western Australia due to quarantine restrictions.

Please note: Some orders may not be possible to parts of Australia due to quarantine and some items may carry unique delivery charges. Check full delivery policy.

Common Name: TUBEROUS BEGONIA
Botanical Name: Begonia tuberhybrida
Family Name: Begoniaceae
Plant Type: Tuber
Size: 30 – 40cm H x 30 – 40cm W
Planting Time: Late winter, early spring
Planting Width: 20–40cm.
Flowering: Summer
Positioning: Semi Shade.
General Information: Plant in spring when pink growth buds start to show on tubers, this occurs when the temperatures reach approx. 16-18 C. Cover with 2-3cm of soil.
Soil: Requires well drained, humus rich soil. Can be grown successfully in pots; use a potting mix specifically for bulbs.
Watering: Needs regular watering in dry weather.
Fertilising: Prepare soil with a well-rotted animal manure, or compost prior to planting. Feed with a slow release fertiliser every 3 – 4 months. Applying a liquid fertiliser every couple of weeks will promote more rapid growth towards
flowering.
Pruning: Remove old spent flowers to avoid any diseases developing.
Dislikes: Poorly drained soil.
Pests: Snails can be a big problem for these plants.
Tips: For protection from frosts, when growth has died off, dig tubers up, wash off the dirt & allow the tubers to air dry for 4-5 days (this hardens the skins.) Store the dried tubers in dry potting mix or sand in a cool dry position. Replant
when buds begin to sprout on tubers.

Legend

Establish which coloured region you live in and then consider the varieties listed as typically suited to that area. The Australian Climate Guide map is intended as a guide only as climatic conditions vary between specific locations. Factors such as local altitude, wind and the proximity of hills, mountains and bodies of water can cause variations from the generalised climate map. Note also that although a plant may be listed as suitable for a particular region, it may still require protection from extremes such as frost or strong winds. You should also consider its requirements for sun, shade and water.

Remember that you can often extend the range of plants that you can grow by creating micro-climates within your garden. Planting under trees, beside brick walls or in the shelter of a building, on high or low points in the garden can all have an effect. Even planting by a pond or surrounded by rocks can be used to advantage. Part of the joy of gardening can be experimenting and nothing is more pleasing that achieving success with a plant that is not usually seen in your area.

The map is based on Australian Bureau of Meteorology 30 year climatology data from 1961-1990. The zones are based on both temperature and humidity:

  • Tropical – hot humid summer .
  • Mild Tropical – warm humid summer
  • Semi-arid – hot dry summer, cold winter
  • Arid – hot dry summer, cold winter
  • Temperate – warm summer, cool winter
  • Cool – mild-warm summer, cool winter
