Dianella Seaspray

Dianella Sea Spray is a hardy, clumping native grass-like plant prized for its striking blue-green foliage. Forming a neat, architectural clump, it brings year-round colour and texture to gardens, borders, and containers.

In spring and summer, delicate sprays of small blue flowers appear above the foliage, followed by decorative purple berries that attract birds.

Exceptionally tough and low maintenance, Dianella are drought tolerant once established and performs well in coastal gardens, tolerating wind and salt spray.

Best grown in full sun to part shade, it prefers well-drained soil and is suitable for mass planting, edging, or as a feature plant. Frost tolerant and adaptable, it’s an excellent choice for modern, native, or low-water landscapes. Suitable to all but tropical climates, Dianella will grow well and thrive in most areas. Plants can be cut back to tidy up but can also be left to be completely maintenance free.
