Succulents

Succulents have long been popular amongst gardeners. As well as coming in an array or shapes, colours and sizes, their fleshy leaves contribute to their toughness in dry conditions. As evergreens their leaves can be used to provide a range of foliage colours in the garden throughout the year. Many varieties also produce flowers which in the case of species such as the Aloes can be quite spectacular, with tall flower spikes towering above leaves.

Smaller succulents are very suitable as container plants and are often very tolerant of being grown indoors. Varieties such as Echeverias can be used as low borders for garden beds or for forming a ground cover amongst rocks.
