Chop top Monterey Pine

Postby alpinebonsart » Thu Sep 17, 2009 2:58 pm

Another good find this was an attempt from the Plantation Corp to eradicate self sown trees .They missed the lower branch and as a result they continue to grow .The trunk is 100mm at the base and was chopped at around 400mm , the lower branch has become the new leader unfortunately it has grown at a grotesque position which will require some carving and clamping to improve the flowing lines .

The trunk est' at around 8-10 years old the new leader is 4-5 according to the ring count
