Species: Crinum x powellii
The Crinum is related to the Hippeastrum and Hymenocallis however Crinums
are generally evergreen in most climates unless affected by frosts and
have leaves in a different pattern that creates a taller plant than Hippeastrums.
It has fragrant clusters of 8-10 trumpet-shaped flowers on tall stems
in mid-late summer. The white form is Crinum x powellii 'Album'
or 'Alba'.

Origin: South Africa
Watering - Water once per week during
dry periods.
Fertilising - Well
rotted animal manure, blood and bone or a complete fertiliser should
be worked through the soil prior to planting.
Lifting and storage -
Can be left undisturbed for 3 years. If digging is necessary lift
May-June and re-plant by November.
Pests - Bait for slugs and snails.
Tips - Plant neck
of bulb slightly above soil level. Crinum Alba has evergreen foliage
so plant where this can be a feature. Bulbs are best placed in a semi-permanent
position as they grow very large deep roots and will be difficult to
dig after several years.
